The Patriots will be good this year
I’m going to make this very simple for the fellow BOTPODs out there. The subtraction of Matt Patricia and Joe Judge from the offense is worth two wins. The addition of Bill O’Brien is worth another two. That’s an addition four wins from last year (Bears, Raiders, Vikings, Bengals). Competent offensive leadership finishes those game with a minimum level of cohesiveness and you’re walking out with wins.
The sack of suck that was Patricia and Judge can not be overstated. The dysfunction began from the very beginning of camp. And don’t give me this Mac Jones and Co. didn’t buy in Belichick bobo bullshit. If you’re a professional in a job and your boss is a walking nutsack are you going to “buy in” to their message and leadership? Fuck outta here. Belichick lost the offensive side of the room from jump street. That’s not even mentioning the fact that they literally didn’t know how coach. Brian Hoyer is no longer a Patriot because he raised concerns that the team DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH PLAYS to get through a game. The dysfunction has a trickle down effect that landed directly on Bill’s back. Hence why the special teams has been a shell of itself. Look at these fucking idiots.
I’m not telling you O’Brien is Sean Peyton or Mac Jones is about to light the world on fire. However, under McDaniels and a similar offense to what we will see this year the team was a top 10 unit. Sixth in points scored. Mac Jones are rated anywhere from 12th to 7th best in the league depending on the metrics you want to look at. You combine that with the level of defense we’ve seen and a more concentrated special teams effort you are looking at a double digit win team.
Again, I’m not predicting Super Bowl here. Those are predicated on QB play which is a massive question mark coming into the season. Can Mac make the leap we all expected in year 2 before Joe Judge got his greasy loser paws on him. Think of the Joe Judge effect? As Giants head coach Daniel Jones was QB sneaking on 3rd downs almost of the league. With Brian Dabol he just earned 40 MILLION dollars. Go ahead tell me coaching wasn’t that big of a deal last year.
While we are here can I take a second to poor some water on the competition. Everyone freaking out over the Aaron Rodgers signing and the Dolphins roster. Calm the fuck down. Aaron Rodgers is old as shit spending is offseason tripping his balls off hanging upside down in a dark room. He’s been checked out for years and owed 100 million in guaranteed money over the next 2 years just for showing up. The Jets were dead last win passer rating last year. Rodgers will improve that, but he was only 13th himself last year. The Jets are not superbowl bound. And the Dolphins? The Dolphins?!?! The same trash organization I’ve been warning you all about for years. Yep, Tua is undefeated against the Pats. He also has scrambled eggs for brains and the Dolphins go fishing for 4 game losing streaks like it’s in their contract. Give me a coin at the rest of the schedule minus the Bills and Chiefs who are the top of the league offensively with the top 2 QB’s in the game.
This team’s defense will keep them in close grind it out games the same way they did last year. The difference is there is an adult in the room on offense. The QB should be “bought in”, playing for his next contract, and to shut all you hater up (including his head coach). They have a high floor of offensive skilled players and beefed up the O-Line depth with 1,000 guards in the draft. The only way I see this going sideways is if they somehow drafted another Nazi kicker.
