Pats got D’d in Dallas

You know when you’re looking forward to something all day and then it comes and you wonder why you wasted the last 3 hours watching it and could have been doing something else. That was yesterday. My weekend was booked solid from kids soccer games to 2 birthday parties all I wanted to do at 4:25 was watch the Patriots and Cowboys game. How would the Patriots look coming off the first win of the season and having a little bit of momentum against a team who everyone thinks was overrated and primed for a home loss…..

I believe I read a stat that said since Mac had a QBR of 39.7 against Dallas that it was the equivalent of Mac spiking the ball every play. Let that sink in. Mac had his absolute last game on Sunday. Is he the total problem? No, but…. some of those reads and that stupid smirk when you’re losing 38-3 will get you most of the blame. The receiving core is what we thought they would be, they suck. All of them, no singular receiver on this team is a game changer. That’s another problem this team has to face. Another huge problem, your two best defensive players are out for the foreseeable future. First Matthew Judon with a bicep tear is expected to miss the rest of the season. Christian Gonzalez dislocated his shoulder and sounds like he will be out a minimum of 4 games. When it rains it pours is the old saying.

So here we are again. Patriots fans divided on who needs to go. One half you got the Mac haters who think this tennis brat is not a franchise quarterback and that he got Bill O’Brien and still looks just as bad as he did last year. He isn’t showing signs of improving and that his cocky attitude and work ethic is coming into question. The other half think it’s Bill Belichick and that a 71 year old isn’t with the times of a new NFL. You can’t say that Bill can’t make a defense great because he can but the problem with Bill is he still thinks that you can win championships with that great defense and he’s wrong. This is an offensive driven league where you need a top quarterback with a great wide receiver or tight end to win a Super Bowl.

I know we are on to week 5 and its still early in this NFL season but the way the media and fans are talking its almost like its time to throw in the towel but for what? If Belichick can’t identify talent on the offensive side of the ball what’s the point to suck for Caleb Williams, QB from USC? Or, keep Mac and get Marvin Harrison Jr., WR from Ohio State? It seems like a hell of a cross roads to be at with this team with no real direction in sight.

Where do we go from here?
