SIMPLEST MINDS OF THE WEEK
Michael Porter Jr
Michael Porter Jr. was the latest guest on The Pivot and has made some serious waves for his comments on the WNBA.
Complex - "I see from both sides. I know these females want to get paid more, and they’re very talented. But so is a famous ping-pong player," Porter says. "Like, the best ping pong player is just as talented as the best NBA player. That doesn’t mean that they’re going to get paid the same because it’s what the people wanna watch."
He continued:
"As much as I understand females wanting the same treatment as men basketball players, it's a different sport. They're not packing out the arenas, obviously, their TV deals aren't the same. So as much as I advocate for women and kind of the equality of the respect of their craft, I mean, you can't pay them the same thing," he continues. "But I do feel like there should be a little way to make a little bit more money because they are very talented."
Is Porter Jr. wrong? Debatable. the ping pong line is funny. I don’t care you are. That’s funny. There are two morals to this story; don’t give morons mics and if you are said moron surround yourself with people who will reenforce the fact that you are indeed a moron and should not put a mic in front of yourself. If you disagree, just pop open literally an social media app. We are a culture of idiots spouting off on the internet. The difference with this guy, is the size of his audience and what he has to loose. Millions for both.
Is this even America?
Brazen squatters even opened an illegal strip club on a property they had taken over — one of the 1,200 homes which has been squatted in the city, according to the National Rental Home Council (NRHC) trade group.
The squatters ran the clandestine strip club, held noisy parties and even organized car races in the street, ruining the neighborhood for others, according to local reports.“They would get live horses. One day they had live horses,” one neighbor told Atlanta station WSB-TV TV2.
Eventually a SWAT team had to clear out the house and recovered two stolen cars, a stolen weapon and stolen credit cards from the property, according to the local report.
“Is this even America anymore? We are homeowners and we can’t even do anything about trespassers?” the neighbor said in frustration.
Well, lets get one thing straight. This sounds exactly like America. Free Market baby. Are you dumb enough to head out to the store for groceries, I’m opportunistic enough to steal your house and turn it into a strip club/ horse racing track. Call the Wambulance.
The real reason we took a close look at this story, is because our resident beloved fool, Dr. Big Mac very much enjoyed his experience in Atlanta at a Gentelman’s Club called Goosebumps (No relations to RL Stein, unfortunately)
In Big Mac’s words:
“I’ve been to a strip club in Atlanta. It was called Goosebumps. It was the greatest establishment I’ve ever been in right next to Penns Port Pub.
“The girls were smoking weed with us. The bouncers were drinking with us. It was a magical time. It was Disney for me.”
If the Bottom Of The Totem Pole Of Dumb can find a way to engulf himself into the local culture, there homeowners can too. I’m just saying.
