Budda Baker - Yay or Nay?

With the Cardinals in a bigger rebuild than they probably already planned, there is another star player putting himself on the trade block. With their starting quarterback and tight end recovering from knee injuries, many defensive players leaving in free agency or retiring, it’s time to get the front office in the war room, bust open the scouting and analytical reports to start a rebuild.

Shall we have a little due diligence? Just procedure and see if it makes sense?

With Budda Baker wanting out, is this the Patriot Plan B? Plan A was trading for DeAndre Hopkins and drafting a safety in the draft. This Plan B is getting Baker to fully get that stud defense back and draft wide receivers to see if Bill can finally pick a guy serviceable. Which if you look at history, there’s more of a chance of someone selling the Harvard Bridge than the Patriots developing a wide receiver. But since he won’t be a WR1, it would suffice.

Since the NFL has what we shall call “creative bookkeeping” Let's not stress over the cap hit. Even then, not bad considering Baker has been available and playing at such a high level.

So once again we talk about compensation for everyone outside quarterbacks is ridiculously in the toilet. Only one comparable to this is Jalen Ramsey going to the Dolphins for a 3rd round pick and a tight end that is 24 years old named Hunter Long. Ever heard him? Doubtful.

Same as before. 2nd round pick. Just like DeAndre Hopkins in the proposal I made rather recently. And add a late pick swap to give the Cardinals a higher pick.

But, if this goes through and the salary cap professionals do their thing, can the Patriots offense lead by O'Brien and Mac do it with two tight ends, Juju and Parker being WR2s, and a drafted player stepping up for that next spot? It’s trade for one position and draft the other.

Time ticking. Robert Kraft says there is money to be spent. This trade does make sense within reasons. What’s everyone’s thoughts? It does make sense, but would you pull the trigger?
