Jerod Mayo: A counter to BOTPOD

My cohost of The Simple Minds Sports Show, Raymond, aka the Bottom Of The Totem Pole Of Dumb had some scathing blogs earlier this week regarding the Kraft’s and their selection of Jerod Mayo as the head coach of the New England Patriots. As it is in my very nature to disagree with everything BOTPOD, aka the Grammer Guru allow me to issue a rebuttle.

The Kraft’s had a plan:

Mayo went through the Kraft Management development program. There's no guarantee is going to work, but there has certainly been a plan that is undeniable. He was hand-picked in for this job. Which I give a better chance of or at least the same chance of success at throwing your hat in the ring with the rest of the 31 teams, guessing at who the next hotshot is going to be. Risking the next 3 to 5 years of your franchise on him while turning over the playbook with every field attempt. Now, that could happen with Mayo if he doesn't work out but I guess you take your chances with the Devil you now.

The Kraft’s plan is to keep it in house. That’s their entire business philosophy. They have maintained their business empire private handing the keys over to Jonathan and the other nameless sons. There are certainly pros to the approach logically. They have known Jerod Mayo for over a decade. They have a in depth knowledge of all the key indicators and how Mayo performs. In their mind they are minimizing their risk. They have the more information about this candidate 10-fold then they would with any outsider. They can forecast with supreme confidence. The problem is business practices rarely translate smoothly to running a professional sports team. You’re dealing with jacked up bagillion-aire 24 year olds. With tens of thousands and millions of followers letting them know how fucking cool they are. The performances are volatile. The personalities are larger than life and the competition and stress are peaked 24-7. Turn over and turn around is forever fluid. What have you done for me lately, etc.

So, the Kraft’s plan may not work, but they have a plan BOTPOD.
