Is Coach Vibes finally in his comfort zone; Football?

Given that it is just one win I don't want to overreact here, but, it's one win in week one of a season in which many people thought the Patriots could only get one win. It's one win in week one after 25 years of Bill Belichick. And it's one win in week one after an off-season where head coach Jerod Mayo seemingly putting his foot in his mouth every time he step to the podium. However, after this game and this win he sounded like a guy that just needed to get into the season and be around the football.

I think he has an idea of how he wants a team to look and how it out to be run. Through his experience as a players, his limited experience as a coach, and somewhat de facto defensive coordinator we assume that there is a confident level of football knowledge with the X’s and Os. Not that it has not been portrayed as his strength. From everybody you hear speak about Mayo they speaks about him as a man, and leader, and good person. He himself has preached the idea as a coach. It is his number one goal to turn his young players into good men just as much as it is to turn them into good football players .

That's all to say the off-season roster building and his first brush with media as the soul voice of the New England Patriots did not fill us with a bounty of confidence. But, perhaps it’s just because it was outside his level of expertise and at least for one week and one win Jerod Mayo looks and sounds like a football coach.
