Is Boston A Sports Destination Anymore?
Since 2001 Boston has been the city of champions with all 4 major sports teams winning championships, but has the Boston mystique ran out? Is it no longer a place where players want to go and win. For the Patriots it was Tom Brady, the man is Mr. Football, the Goat of all Goats and was the reason NFL players would come to New England and play. After a 7-9 season and Cam Newton back behind center it seems like no one wants to come play for the once greatest organization in sports. Seeing 7-9 in the win loss column is going to be a yearly thing from here on out.
The Red Sox, oh the fucking Red Sox. The days of opening up the wallet and spending on every big name they could get to keep up with the Yankees are long gone. Sending away the best young player in the league and not getting the same return back was the nail in the coffin for this team. Now John Henry and the Sox are having a fire sale to help cut costs which is just mind blowing.

Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Glass Gordon, all veteran All-Stars and all players that ended up leaving because the young guys. Lakers will have AD for years to come, Clippers have Kawhi and Brooklyn KD. The Celtics won’t be and never have been a free agent destination and with rumors coming out about how the Jays and veteran players didn’t playing well together, I doubt a free agent comes here again until these guys are in their late 20’s which sucks cause that is 6 to 7 years away. If they stay that long.
The only one bright spot here is the Bruins. Yes the 10th oldest team in the league that are on a quest for the Butthole Tattoo, but it seems like this Boston franchise is the only attractive landing spot for players to come and win right now. The Bruins are our only hope to hoist a trophy in the next few years. Without them I see nothing but dark clouds for Boston professional sports that won’t see a light for many years. You look at other franchises that went through this and still are trying to get back to the glory days. For once I hope I’m wrong.
