We Want Boston

The Heat are a bunch of little assholes. And it's the best thing that could've happened to the Celtics.

Toot toot, we here at Simple Minds Sports have been banging the drum against the Celtics biggest flaws for years. Their stars were not yet superstars because they did not know how to execute clutch and late, finish off opponents, or in short, they did not know how to win. Coming into this season and specifically into these playoffs that question remained and finally the mainstream media or at least some of them have pulled the big green dick out of their mouths long enough to agree. So, after the Celtics dropped game two in this series showing yet again a lack of mental toughness or preparedness when they had clearly shown they were the superior team in game one, those questions popped right back up.

To the Celtics credit this entire year they have been better at bouncing back after those lapses which they certainly did in game three in the Heat series. Specifically on defense they locked down. On offense they have been met with a fairly new challenge. The NBA has decided to let them play defense again and in the case of the Miami Heat versus the Boston Celtics they're allowing a Greco wrestling. It's exactly what the Celtics need.

I saw less bitching to the ref from the Celtics team over the past five games then I have in years. Maybe that's because they've had 30 point leads in four of the five games with very little stress to deal with but I digress. It's just great to see your best players put their shoulders down drive to the hoop initiate and finish through contact with authority and thrive in those positions. Game 5 was an onslaught of offensive prowess similar to game one, but games three and four we're not won simply because the Celtics shot lights out from the behind the arc, Derek White excluded. We’ll get back to him in a second.

They were forced to play a physical game both in the paint and on the perimeter. Nothing came easy. Nothing came with out hand checking, bodying up, and at times full on contact. Nothing came easy unless the Celtics made it easy with their ball movement, driving and kick, staying with in the offense, and maintaining a cool level of poise matched with a focused level of intensity. It’s the first time I’ve seen this team have that combination of mental fortitude for an extended time.

Speaking of Derek White allow me to present you one more toot toot. When asked earlier this season who I would be most comfortable with taking the last shot in pressure situations. My answer: Derek White.

Pay that man his monies.

I've gone all this way without mentioning Porzingis. For a reason. They don't need him. Or at least they shouldn't. They were good enough last year to win the championship with basically the same roster minus Porzingis. This year the path is even easier through the East and you have replaced the "heart and soul "and catalyst for the Celtics hollow bravado, Marcus Smart with an actual play maker, champion, and professional in Drue Holiday.

With Porzingis, you could tell me the Nuggets would be a challenge in the Finals. Without Porzingis certainly the Nuggets are a challenge in the Finals. Beyond that from sea to signing sea there is not a team on the planet better than the Boston Celtics this year. There is no excuse not to bring home banner 18.

Thank you Miami.
