Bo-Sox

Is there a new shortstop coming to town?

It’s July. That mean means a few things. One being this is MLB trade season. Where there are a lot of narratives that surround the Boston Red Sox.

To be clear, let’s start with a picked position.

BUY!

But let’s attend the elephant in the room…

See this? That’s the current Red Sox Shortstop Trevor Story. After this year there is a 3 Year - 75 Million Dollars guaranteed with an option of a 4th year with a 5 Million buyout.

Contusions, a torn UCL (Tommy-John Surgery), and a dislocated shoulder have had him only active for 145 games in a span of three years. Then when he comes back, he should move to 2nd Base.

With Shortstop prospects hard to find because of arm strength and range, the Red Sox having a 2nd Baseman issue, why not upgrade the spot?

The answer? Bo Bichette.

The rest of this year and all of next year. With arbitration taking care of from the money off the books.

With the Chris Sale and Justin Turner money off the books, that will go towards Bo's last year of arbitration which I guest would be in the 20 Million range.

We’ve seen Bo have a five hit game at Fenway Park. He’s a gamer. 2 time All-Star, pure hitter, and natural shortstop at 26 years old.

With Toronto in pieces it is time for them to blow it up and get proper value.

Mock Trade

Red Sox recieve - Bo Bichette (SS)

Blue Jays receive - Marcelo Mayer (SS) #1, Allan Castro (OF) #12

(Might need to throw in another prospect, but okay)

The outfield crowded and here to stay for a few years. Mayer will be blocked by Story or a 2nd Base prospect. Keep him at high value get what you can.

And now, owner John Henry needs to concentrate on Liverpool FC or the Pittsburgh Penguins and let the Red Sox be the Red Sox. Get, it, done. Hopefully…
